Karney Schumacher
A Passion for Music
Karney Schumacher has been playing guitar professionally since 1989. He has opened for national acts such as Eddie Money, Night Ranger, and Quiet Riot, and has shared the stage with members of Firefall. In addition to his strong passion to perform, he is equally passionate about teaching the guitar.
He developed a love of music at a young age. When he was 13, his mom let him play her old acoustic guitar and he was immediately captivated by it. He was inspired by the music of Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin. Then after signing up for a guitar class in junior high school, he couldn’t put the guitar down.
Karney’s passion for playing the guitar quickly blossomed. He played in several bands throughout high school, and after graduating, began to pursue a career in music. He quickly became a fixture in the Northern Colorado music scene, and started to open for national acts.
In 1998, Karney began teaching guitar privately. He soon realized that he loved teaching as much as he loved performing. He found that he had a knack for explaining complex musical concepts in a way that was easy to understand.
In 2001, he began teaching guitar at Colorado State University and Aims Community College as well as Spotlight Music in Fort Collins, Colorado.
In 2017, Karney officially opened his own music business called Northern Colorado Guitar Instruction. He now teaches full time in Greeley and Fort Collins, Colorado, and hosts jam sessions on the weekends.
Karney is a passionate teacher dedicated to helping his students learn and grow as musicians. He is also a great communicator, and can connect with his students on a personal level.
If you are looking for a guitar teacher who is passionate about music and teaching, then Karney Schumacher is the perfect teacher for you. He will help you learn the guitar in a way that is fun and engaging. He will also help you develop your own unique musical voice.
Student Accomplishments
Several students from Northern Colorado Guitar have auditioned and were accepted for the sole guitar seat in the middle school, high school, and college jazz bands. A few of the younger students received honors in their grade school music programs. One was asked to accompany her choir on guitar at age 11. Former students have opened up for national acts including the country band Restless Heart and the rock band The Fray.
Enjoy What You’re Doing
The key to the students’ success is that they enjoy what they are doing and gain confidence through the skills they have worked hard to develop. By staying inspired, practicing becomes something they look forward to.
Karney teaches acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele at his studio in Greeley, Colorado and online. He also teaches at Boomer Music in Fort Collins, Colorado.
